Who are the Bemidji Jaycees?
We were founded in 1937 and are group of volunteers comprised of many different ages, skills and resources that all share one thing in common, the desire to give back to our community.
What do the Bemidji Jaycees do for the Community?
We are best known for the different events we run in the community, such as the BRRRRmidji Days, BRRRmidji Plunge, Sandbox Fill, Water Carnival and County Fair Beer Garden. These events provide the community with activities as well as the proceeds raised from events are also donated back to community organizations. In 2023, more than $12,000.00 was donated to more than ten community organizations!
Why should you choose to become a Bemidji Jaycee?
We are aware that since the inception of the Jaycees organization there have been many new and wonderful volunteer organizations that have come around, many in our local community. Through the many events that we run in the community, members learn leadership development and project management skills, this is what sets us apart from other organizations. Our goal is to give back to our community, while developing future leaders.
If you ask our members, most will say they also enjoy the comradery of the organization as well. Many lifelong friendships have been a result of membership in the organization. In addition to all of our events, we make sure to take the time to recognize our members and their hard work with fun, social events as well!
If you're looking for a volunteer opportunity or just looking to meet new people and want to give back to the community, come check us out! You can download the Membership Application or fill out the contact form below!
What is the time commitment for being a Bemidj Jaycee?
This depends on the individual members level of involvement in the organization. We hold one monthly General Membership meeting each month on the third Tuesday at Keg N' Cork and on Zoom. All members are invited, as well as prospective members, and this is where the bulk of information regarding projects and events is given to members. While we hope everyone will attend these meetings, they are not required.
Within our organization we have a Board of Directors. The positions are filled by members who help to oversee the organization. In addition to attending and helping at events, they have one extra meeting a month than the General Membership.
For the most part, help at projects throughout the year is based on the individual members availability. We encourage all members to help when they can to gain more leadership skills as well as spread out the manpower needs.
